Systems Engineer - US Remote

Overview

Systems Engineer on the Data Conversion team within the North America Solutions Deployment and Integration Organization, migrating and converting historical customer data into Motorola Solutions public safety products.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain data migration and conversion tools, test scripts, and deployment timelines with the project team.
• Prototype, design, and implement data conversion solutions.
• Perform system integration of data migration solutions for customers.
• Work with customers to fulfill business objectives and end-user expectations, acting as a bridge between customer business needs and technical delivery.
• Validate and deliver data migration solutions with the customer based on contract deliverables.
• Support and triage issues with customer integration teams under minimum supervision.
• Create the project's overall quality strategy and modify it as needed.

What you'll need

• High School diploma, or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology.
• 3+ years of experience in one of the areas: Systems Integration, Software Engineering, Product Development, System Test, System Support, Information Technology, or similar technical or engineering disciplines.
• Ability to obtain a background clearance as required by government customers.
• Soft skills and customer interaction ability.
• Ability to communicate complex technical strategies to customers.
• Ability to summarize findings clearly through reports and other written artifacts.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology.
• Technical/software development experience, including C#, XML, Python and .NET technologies.
• Hands-on experience with SQL database design (MS SQL preferred, Oracle, MySQL or PostgreSQL).
• Strong experience in SQL query design and implementation.
• Understanding of object-oriented coding and design; participating in code reviews and feedback.
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug issues.
• Solid networking understanding.
• Ability to evaluate software quality through load testing, stress testing, unit testing and exploratory testing.
• Experience with Agile software development, project management and business analysis practices.

Details

• Remote, US-based role; onsite in the Chicagoland area is listed in the description.
• Travel of 25-50% required for all project phases, from design through final acceptance.
• Subject to working in high security areas governed by the CJIS Security Policy, requiring a fingerprint background check.
• Target base salary range: $90,000 - $100,000 USD.
