Application Engineer

Overview

Design Fire & Security systems (Fire Alarm, Access Control, Intruder Alarm and CCTV) to respective account standards, acting as the technical interface to customers and keeping projects within agreed schedule and budget.

What you'll do

• Design Fire & Security systems such as Fire Alarm, Access Control, Intruder Alarm and CCTV per respective account standards.
• Work independently and apply established standards and practices with full proficiency.
• Act as the interface to customers and ensure projects are executed within agreed schedule and budget to meet customer technical specification requirements.
• Independently carry out Hardware Detail Design, Engineering and Application Development, Battery Calculations and Voltage Drop Calculations.
• Develop typicals and templates for complex systems and develop project-specific standards.
• Read and understand Control Narratives, Logic Diagrams and IO Matrices.
• Monitor and control assigned work scope against the project plan, ensure effective change control, and identify risks and opportunities.
• Ensure the proposed engineered solution meets project requirements for functionality, standards, quality and supporting documentation.
• Ensure group work complies with QMS procedures.
• Identify improvement opportunities and manage their implementation.
• Ensure common methods, techniques, tools and products are effectively applied, and provide feedback for future improvement.
• Review the implementation of the application against project standards and quality documents.
• Perform quality checks to ensure the final deliverable meets the customer's functional specifications.
• Use engineering tools to optimize engineering man-hours and improve productivity and quality.

What you'll need

• Diploma or BE in Electrical or Electronics.
• 3-8 years of experience in Fire & Security system design (mandatory).
• Strong domain knowledge of Fire & Security system engineering.
• Fire code and security domain knowledge (mandatory).
• Global customer-facing experience.
• Good knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Good communication skills.

Nice to have

• NICET / BS 5839 certification.
• Security system product certifications.
