Overview
Payoneer is seeking a seasoned Backend Engineer to design, develop, and deploy scalable, high-quality backend systems. The role involves driving technical architecture, mentoring teammates, collaborating with cross-functional partners, and improving system reliability, performance, and customer experience.
What you'll do
- Design and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable backend solutions for complex scenarios, ensuring high-quality results that may be consumed by other teams.
- Collaborate within your team and with cross-functional partners, such as Product, Design/UX, DevOps, and other R&D teams, representing your team as needed.
- Maintain and improve the team's engineering practices.
- Suggest and implement technology, patterns, or process enhancements.
- Proactively identify areas of improvement in team systems, processes, and scalability.
- Lead by example in code quality.
- Contribute significantly to code reviews and act as a focal point for engineering excellence questions.
- Help monitor production systems and investigate potential issues.
- Lead efforts to resolve critical production challenges while maintaining a customer-centric approach.
What you'll need
- 4+ years in backend software engineering roles, with demonstrated ability to navigate technical trade-offs and ambiguity effectively.
- Proficiency in C#, Java, or similar object-oriented languages.
- Hands-on knowledge of relational databases like SQL Server.
- Experience with message queues or streaming platforms, such as RabbitMQ, SQS, or Kaffia.
- Strong experience writing unit tests and ensuring high test coverage.
- Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
- Experience with microservices architecture.
- Experience designing new functionality for existing complex components while maintaining scalability and performance.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- BA/BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Nice to have
- Practical experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Hands-on knowledge of non-relational databases like MongoDB.
- Experience mentoring new hires and interns, fostering a culture of collaboration and best practice.
