Electrical Engineer (Airfield Ground Lighting)

Overview

Electrical Engineer specializing in Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) to plan, design, and support airside electrical systems for airport development and modernization projects.

What you'll do

• Develop and deliver AGL designs for runways, taxiways, aprons, helipads, holding positions, and stop bars.
• Prepare concept, preliminary, and detailed engineering designs in line with ICAO, FAA, EASA, and applicable national standards.
• Design electrical infrastructure for AGL systems including CCRs, series circuits, transformers, field lighting equipment, and cable networks.
• Perform electrical calculations and equipment sizing, including load calculations and voltage drop analysis.
• Lead design and integration of Airfield Lighting Control and Monitoring Systems (ALCMS) and related interfaces.
• Conduct photometric assessments to meet airfield lighting performance requirements.
• Prepare and review engineering reports, specifications, design calculations, drawings, and tender documentation.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of experience in electrical design.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in electrical power systems or airport infrastructure.
• Previous electrical engineering or design role within an engineering consultancy.
• Experience working on commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or airport projects.
• Hands-on experience with Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit MEP.
• Knowledge of BS7671, BS 50122, BS5266, and BS5839.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative BIM team.
