Overview
Lead Electronics Hardware engineer focused on firmware development for Eaton’s electrical fusible products within the PCS group, and leading hardware design and development for circuit protection devices.
What you'll do
- Lead technical projects for circuit protection devices and mentor the product development team.
- Own overall hardware design and product development to meet project schedule and budget.
- Provide technical solutions by following defined processes.
- Define technology strategy and propose solutions to deliver competitive advantage.
- Execute product development from concept through commercialization and drive innovation/technology initiatives.
- Estimate workload, establish project schedules, and monitor progress across execution phases.
- Collaborate with product management, operations, and other engineering teams across the product life cycle.
What you'll need
- 9-15 years of experience.
- Hands-on experience designing products end-to-end from concept to commercialization, including PCB design, component selection, schematics creation/evaluation, and prototype testing.
- Technical knowledge of electronic product design for circuit protection functionality (breakers, fuses, relays, switchgears, contactors) aligned to UL/IEC/NEC.
- Experience leading product teams independently and working with cross-functional teams.
- Extensive hardware development life cycle experience (requirements management through verification/validation and qualification/certification testing).
- Hands-on ability to define system/subsystem specifications and design system architecture and requirements.
- Simulation tool experience including PSpice, LTSpice, or ModelSim.
- Experience with hardware architecture design and 16/32-bit micro-controller/DSP based designs.
- Electronics design experience for power distribution and wiring device product lines such as Electronic MCB, Trip Units, MCCB, AFCI, GFCI, Fusible Switches, and Metering products.
- High speed, digital, and mixed signal design experience.
- Analog circuit design and analysis skills including Op Amps, filters, power supply components, and constant current drivers.
- Digital circuit design and analysis skills including microprocessor circuits and communication interfaces/protocols (e.g., RS232, SPI, I2C, Ethernet).
- Schematic entry and familiarity with PCB design guidelines for SI and understanding PCB impact on EMI/EMC.
- Troubleshooting and bench skills for testing and debugging hardware.
