Manager, Software Engineering - Data Platform

Overview

Lead engineers for Figma’s Data Platform, setting technical direction, scaling the team, and ensuring reliability and growth of the data platform.

What you'll do

• Lead and grow a team of engineers building and operating Figma’s data platform.
• Own delivery, technical direction, and team health for the data platform.
• Set roadmap and technical strategy for your sub area and provide hands-on leadership.
• Drive reliability, scalability, and forward strategy as adoption grows.
• Hire, grow, and coach engineers and tech leads to raise the team bar.
• Partner across Data Science, Product, Finance, and Engineering to identify priorities and drive alignment.
• Make build-vs-buy decisions and evaluate/manage platform vendors when needed.
• Keep delivery predictable while balancing near-term execution with long-term investment.

What you'll need

• 3+ years managing engineers, including senior ICs or tech leads.
• Track record of building and scaling high-performing teams.
• Experience building and scaling data platform or data infrastructure systems in production online environments.
• Strong software engineering background with senior/staff-level depth before moving into management.
• Ability to manage multiple cross-functional stakeholder groups, including Data Science, Product, Finance, and Engineering.
• Ability to set technical direction, drive alignment, and prioritize under ambiguity with strong written communication.

• Full-time role available from US hubs or remotely in the United States.
• Required to attend in-person onboarding if hired.
