Overview
The Plant Engineer provides technical expertise for designing electrification solutions for EHV/HV substations and supports sales and business development through system design and customer technical consultations.
What you'll do
- Perform HV (Primary) engineering for 132 kV and above GIS/AIS substations for grid-interconnected projects.
- Create basic diagrams and layouts including single line diagrams, plant layout plans, equipment control room, earthing layout, and DSLP/trench layouts.
- Develop electrical designs including earthing, lightning, cable and battery sizing, illumination systems design, and sag tension calculations.
- Size short circuit forces and bus-bars and conduct equipment selection/sizing per IEEE/IEC.
- Prepare distribution/auxiliary system engineering and evaluate vendor drawings, calculations, GTP, and technical specifications, including LV/MV substation engineering for collector/unit/pooling stations.
- Coordinate with automation, civil, and MEP teams and coordinate execution with site and office teams.
What you'll need
- Have 1-4 years of experience in EHV/HV substation design.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Understand power system components such as transformers, switchgear, and protection systems, including renewable integration.
- Communicate effectively to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Use strong analytical and problem-solving skills to balance technical requirements and business needs.
- Be able to work collaboratively across teams and with clients.
