Software Engineer - Advisory Suite

Overview

Software Engineer role focused on building Alpaca’s advisory-service platform services for high quality and high performance.

What you'll do

• Build proprietary services for advisory workflows such as block trading, portfolio management, and IRA.
• Design and architect platform capabilities in a small team.
• Write code and make critical decisions to deliver the best customer experience.
• Apply deep knowledge across frontend and backend, databases, and distributed systems.
• Work with low-to-high level system understanding for high throughput and robust concurrency.
• Develop abstractions for distributed system architecture aimed at high availability.

What you'll need

• Previous software engineering experience with trading or exchange systems (e.g., OMS, EMS, exchanges, market making, algorithmic/quant trading).
• System design skills including object-oriented data modeling and service-oriented architectures.
• Coding skills in low and high level languages including examples like C/C++, Go, Zig, Rust, Java, Scala, and Python.
• Low latency and high throughput optimization experience.
• Experience with messaging queues and message brokers.
• Knowledge of algorithms, distributed systems, scalability, high availability, databases, low latency systems, and concurrency control.
• Experience developing and implementing order management systems (OMS) and/or high-loaded financial transactional systems.
