Overview
Solutions Engineer supporting the South England region, providing technical support for sales and channel activities. The role typically offers 70% remote work within the designated regional country and may require up to 30% travel.
What you'll do
- Lead technical discovery conversations to qualify and validate customer requirements and use cases, build bills of materials, and align solutions to desired outcomes.
- Conduct technical sales presentations, product demonstrations, and solution demonstrations across the SonicWall portfolio for audiences typically between 1-100 persons.
- Explain and demonstrate SonicWall's unique value proposition and key competitive offerings.
- Build a minimum of 10 trusted relationships with channel partners and hold recurring meetings with their channel technical decision makers.
- Build and maintain a personal lab for common demo requests and personal development.
- Support remote partner product trials.
- Lead proofs of concept with partners or direct customers.
- Participate in beta testing and provide product feedback alongside product management teams.
- Work with support where necessary to preserve partner and customer relationships.
- Support technical marketing initiatives, build collateral, and present at virtual or external events.
- Develop expertise to a proof-of-concept level across 3-6 SonicWall product areas and act as a subject matter expert and go-to person for the region.
- Share best practices with peers.
- Support onboarding new solutions engineers.
- Keep regional sales informed of roadmap insights, product updates, and technical best practices.
- Adhere to company values, guidelines, and solution engineering regional reporting tasks.
- Work with VARs, MSPs, and MSSPs on managed service sales, deployment, and support.
What you'll need
- Typically a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, or 5 years' experience with an MBA.
- Cybersecurity experience.
- Proven hands-on experience with cybersecurity products.
- Demonstrated balance of business and technical acumen, with the ability to take a technical sales lead proactively.
- Ability to use business-focused discussions to envision and describe how a technical solution complements existing customer and partner business practices.
- Proven ability to use formal best-practice methods for convincing presentations, solution selling, whiteboarding, objection handling, and excellent time management.
- Ability to work with little instruction on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments.
- Ability to work effectively, maximize available time, optimize teaming discussions, and deliver required outcomes on time and to the required ask.
- Advanced, wide-ranging experience using in-depth professional knowledge, acumen, concepts, and company objectives to develop and resolve complex models and procedures.
- Ability to exercise judgment in selecting methods and evaluating and adapting complex techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Ability to network with product management, support, marketing, and peers within the Solution Engineering organization.
- Ability to adapt style and use persuasion when delivering messages relating to the wider firm business.
- Ability to advise others frequently on complex matters.
- Must reside in the UK.
- Familiarity with governance and compliance issues and management/reporting solutions and requirements.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA, PCI, SOX, FERPA, CIPA, GDPR, and related requirements.
- Experience with the full range of L2-L7 networking technologies and protocols.
- Experience with NAT, stateful firewall, IDS/IPS, web and content filtering, proxies, email security gateways, VPN and encryption (IPsec/SSL), PKI and key management, 802.11/WLAN, Syslog, NetFlow/IPFIX, Active Directory and LDAP.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating scripts, regular expressions, and/or custom signatures.
- Experience with virtualization platforms including VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, and Azure.
Nice to have
- Microsoft Azure or AWS Associate certification.
- Retaining specialist knowledge across SonicWall products to the desired level.
- SNSA and SNSP SonicWall certification; training will be provided.
