Staff Engineer - SSD Hardware Design

Overview

Staff Engineer for SSD hardware design and validation, focusing on board design, signal/power integrity, and power supply characterization for next-generation SSD products.

What you'll do

• Develop and validate Micron’s next generation Solid State Drive (SSD) products.
• Design and simulate power supply circuitry including PDN simulations and DC-DC power stages.
• Perform signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC-focused analysis for high-speed signaling and power delivery.
• Run hardware measurements/validation using oscilloscopes, power analyzers, logic analyzers, and PCIe analyzers.
• Simulate and review design proposals, then share recommendations for optimal design practices.
• Own SSD hardware responsibilities across the product lifecycle, including worst-case analysis and de-rating.
• Automate HW validation tests and support automation using Python (AI tools preferred).

What you'll need

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in hardware design, validation, debugging, and root causing hardware/system issues.
• In-depth knowledge of PCIe Gen5 & Gen6, PCIe Base and CEM specifications.
• Knowledge of LPDDR4/5 and NAND memories, plus ONFI interface (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of DC-DC converters (Buck/Boost), PMIC, power loss protection (PLP), LDO, and load switch devices.
• Hands-on experience with measurement tools including low- and high-end oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and PCIe analyzers.
• Experience with hardware design workflows such as capture schematic, simulations, and capture of design constraints (including stack-up/via technologies).
• Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
