Staff Software Engineer (L4)

Overview

Staff Software Engineer (L4) on Twilio’s Enterprise AI Engineering team, focused on AI-powered tools and agentic products for Customer Support.

What you'll do

• Co-lead design and development of software infrastructure with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Develop sophisticated stateful web applications.
• Integrate React-based front-ends with backend modular services.
• Serve as a developer leader in distributed systems and data technologies.
• Drive technical innovation and research in emerging data technologies and best practices.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and architectural workshops.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, software development, or a related field.
• At least 3 years in a technical leadership role.
• Full-stack web app development experience using JavaScript, TypeScript, or React.
• Track record architecting and delivering complex data projects at scale with distributed systems knowledge.
• Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes; designing and optimizing data pipelines.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to influence technical decisions.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills for high-performing engineering teams.
