Data Operations Analyst Intern

Overview

Data Operations Analyst Intern supporting Instawork’s Field Operations team with operational data used for route mapping and planning spreadsheets.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain Excel workbooks for route planning, territory coverage, and visit schedules.
• Clean, validate, and organize operational data such as addresses, zones, markets, and visit frequency.
• Create route maps and territory layouts using Excel and/or mapping tools (e.g., Google Maps).
• Support route optimization by grouping stops by geography, time windows, and field operations (FO) capacity.
• Produce weekly and daily planning sheets for FOs showing who visits where, in what order, and targets.
• Track coverage gaps and flag issues to the FO lead.
• Maintain documentation of assumptions, data sources, and version history for planning files.

What you'll need

• Intermediate-advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, pivot tables).
• Experience with data hygiene tasks like deduplication and standardizing addresses/zones.
• Ability to group locations by proximity/zones/drive time for route planning.
• Strong attention to detail to catch errors before plans go to the field.
• Clear communication through notes in spreadsheets and explaining how plans were built.
• Reliability to meet deadlines and follow templates/SOPs while responding to revisions.
